It's been almost 3 and a half years since I've posted here.
Well, I have so much to say and simultaneously nothing.
So, let's get to my latest comic project:

The first 4 stripsCollapse )

The character roster so far are Floyd & Lloyd Holiday, Sadie Brewster and Warren Abernathy.
This is, of course, one of those "Meanwhile, in a parallel universe" things.
I reused Warren AND XO, which is why I'm posting this here.

Wow. Well, a new one has been posted!

And here's an older one:

For those still paying attention, (yes, both of you)
Here's how I do things.

Now comics get posted on my beleaguered little website first.
Then, I usually post it on My deviantArt site a few days later, and, eventually, when I'm really bored, I will post one here.
For that matter, here's ANOTHER Evil Empire strip because I'm bored, and about to go to sleep.

Still brainstorming the comic I call

For those paying attention to the X-O website, or to the DeviantArt sites, you know that MOPA is sort of the continuation of Shrimp Fried Riot, my exaggerated, semi-autobiographical chibi comic from a few years ago.

This character, whom I came up with about a year ago, for no particular reason, other than I felt like scribbling a cuckoo in a tukeCollapse )
will be placed in the comic. I dunno what position, as yet, but, I like him.

Fursona Non Grata was originally a comic about Ripper Saurenson, a little alligator boy who had just moved to a new neighborhood.
This strip was to showcase my feelings on being the new kid in school, or the 'weird kid', or, yes, the Token Black Kid™ so many times during my life.

Rip would be not only the only non-mammal in his class, but, he was also one of the few meat-eating predators.
Most of the kids were afraid of him, even though he's one of the nicest kids you'll meet. Others were fearful that he'd be a bully like the other predators in school, who, would alternate between picking on him for being rather small, and trying to recruit him to things like the jock football crowd or whatever.
I still like this idea, and may return to it someday.
And, yes, "Ripper" is a perfectly cromulent alligator name.

Later, about a year or two after that, I had another idea that I wanted to use the name, Fursona Non Grata for.
After the whole "Anyone who so much as draws a talking cartoon animal is instantly a Furry™, and Furries™ are all sick, degenerate omnisexuals who want to fuck real animals while wearing mascot costumes dipped in wasabi, simultaneously reciting the Communist Manifesto from memory", or some shit, I decided to make a comic about an animation studio going out of business, but, not being bought out by Disney or Warner Brothers, as seems to happen to animation studios these days.
Unfortunately, once you create a cartoon character, they EXIST. Without employment, the once beloved characters of the studio are evicted from the studio lot and forced to live in the real world.
A real world that doesn't really accept cartoon characters as people, and, due to the Internet and it's infinite capacity for love and understanding and acceptance, lumps them all into the furry category.
Thus, the idea was basically still the same idea: Moving to a new place and station in life, but not being accepted. Only this would have more adult themes and backgrounds.
Case in point:

This strip begins with Crash Platypus, the protagonist, and will feature more characters as time goes on.

So, a couple of years ago, for the month of May, over on DeviantArt, I had been making li'l scribbles of my characters (mostly the superheroes) and other peoples' characters together.

Altruistically, I hoped it would foster a bit of goodwill to my fellow artists and, maybe get others to do the same.
Not-so-altruistically, I hoped it would garner me a bit of attention and maybe get others to notice/draw MY characters, for a change. [/bitter]

Anywho, it was just linework, so I encouraged anyone to take a crack at coloring.
The last one I did was a nice pic of My alien bee-girl character, Bootsi Q, one AngelCrusher, and a superheroine by the name of Backdraft, created by the now-missing, it seems, artist, Slimmm Goodie.

AngelCrusher himself colored the pic, and did a fantastic job!!
(SUPERFANTASTIC, if you count the fact that AC had, then recently, suffered an injury to the hand/wrist/arm and, I guess, was not up to 100%!!)

Is that not AMAZING??? My lines have NEVER looked this good!

This had been posted in one of my other LJ accounts, in May of 2009, when it was done.
i re-post it here, as, this is my official artblog now. Yes, aside from the DeviantArt page(s) I have.

Another Blast from the Past, for the sake of this artdump.
A strip of my old comic project Misfits of Mischief with a whole lotta guest stars from webcomic-land.

trickster_gods Bjorn, Quinn and Monroe get a little lost.
(Those IHOP bathrooms can be treacherous).

Looks like they're not the only ones.
Featuring a lotta webcomic folks who didn't take that left turn at Albuquerque, and found themselves in Limbo, which, for the purposes of this comic was the Nexus of All Realities.
(And you Marvelites thought it was Man-Thing!)
The cameos are as follows:

Back Row: Baala the demoness from the Webcomic, Pawn.
Skull from PVP.
"The Demon" from Friendly Hostility (whose real name is a long series of impronouncable symbols that, when spoken aloud cause nosebleeds in humans).
The parallel universe version of Captain Heroic from Evil, Inc.
Lenny the Djinn from Accidental Centaurs.

Ayanah, Baala's partner from Pawn,
Zortic from the comic of the same name.
My own Stella and Celeste.
And the Devil Phil from Living In Greytown.

Bottom Row:
Jenny Everywhere, an open source comics character who has graced many a webcomic, and, being open source, is a permanent cast-member of many of them.
The 3 protagonists of Misfits of Mischief: Quinn A., Monroe C., and Bjorn L.
(Mindmistress is between Monroe and Bjorn),
and last but not least is Cassie Wells from the brilliant Times Like This.

Got my website back, finally, and am now in the midst of re-uploading comics and such.
Thus far, I have only reuploaded all the Evil Empire strips and am working on uploading Shrimp Fried Riot, currently.

Gimme about a week (or 3) and I should have all my old comics put up, and working on new ones.
Once that happens, I guess I will use this artdump for random scribbles, naughty stuff and, as a forum, considering the constant influx of spam is what got my site suspended in the first place.

Please enjoy.

So, a few years ago, I got a bee in my bonnet, and figured that I would re-start some of my old comic strips and run with them.

I'd been really down lately and the local comics "masters" in this town had been no help over the past few years at helping me understand the pro side of doing this. I still didn't even know how to get my own website, even though I have asked for help. It was always 'later', or 'I'm too busy', or in one case, one guy whining about how everyone is "Taking advantage of him for his webdesign prowess", or some shit. Hell, I never asked him to design anything. I just wanted to know HOW.

Anyway, back to what I was saying. I'd finally gotten all the computer stuff necessary to get things made. I'd worry about a website later.

(The synopses of each of these strips is taken from the individual pages from my old website, so, please forgive me for the redundancy and repetition.)

Anyway, the story is about Dennis, Daniel and Donald (see above), cloned sons of the fugitive supervillain, Dr. Macabre, who live with their mother (whose name was originally Madison, but just that morning, I decided to change it to Calliope). I've started this comic over a few times with a few details changed, but this one seemed pretty solid for what I have in mind.

Plastic reality was borne of my odd obsession with twins and triplets.
I have always wished that I had a twin or two, and the triplets, here:
Dennis, Daniel and Donald
exemplify that, i guess.
I patterned each of them after an aspect of the human personality. To wit, they are personifications of my own id, ego and superego.
That, and I also loved DuckTales and Alvin & The Chipmunks while growing up, and these guys are kind of a continuation of similar concepts.
Mainly, I assigned each of them a specific color to differentiate them, much like Huey, Dewey and Louie, who were prettymuch interchangeable in the DuckTales days.
Dennis wears red, Daniel in blue, and Donald in yellow. The Primary Colors are the best, yeah?

And, so...Collapse )

Volume 2
This lone portion of Plastic Reality history sees the comic go to greyscale, with little chibis in the margins along the bottom. I admit I totally stole that from Teen Titans Go!
Though, this strip, by the way, predates my all-chibi comic projectt, "Shrimp Fried Riot" by almost a year.

So, now, it is mentioned that the triplets have a mother named Madison, whom, it can be inferred, is a lesbian.
I made her a lesbian, basically, for the sake of this joke, but, that concept carried over to the next incarnation of the strip that I would start almost 3 years later.

Continuing on...Collapse )

As with most, if not all, of my projects that I have dropped, I am currently thinking of reviving it. Obviously I like it, as I tried to start the damned thing 4 times, or so.
Nothing has been set in stone, though.

Malicious Intent is a comic that was borne from my hurt feelings and disappointment, after the comic i made previous to it, Shrimp Fried Riot failed.
I took that one personally. I will post SFR to this artdump someday soon, but, for now, I am scattered and running with it.
Anywho, SFR was a chibi-style comic starring myself and folks I know here in Bellingham, Washington. It ran for 20 strips, over the course of 2 years or so (that's how slow I was).
So, when that comic crashed and feelings got hurt and such, I took the main character,

(me, aka "Octavius" )
And the unofficial secondary character, Jesse,

patterned after my best friend, 10dollargrapple , gave him a different name ("Zed Ellis") and started a new strip by remixing the first SFR strip:

I went in a different direction with the strip, changing Octavius into Milo Mannheim, the name of a character from about 10 years previous, who was also based on me. Instead of just being 'chibi me', (this version of) Milo was a nihilistic mad scientist and self-taught would-be supervillain. This character archetype was also a holdover from a previous idea. The original character's name was Vaughn Harvey.
(You will find that for some odd OCD reason, I do tend to recycle a lot of the same names over and over.)
Vaughn had a sidekick/lackey/whipping boy named "Scorch", whom I transferred to this project to fill that same role for Milo.

Milo Mannheim represented everything from my misanthropy to my self loathing. He was a somewhat lazy villain who couldn't decide whether he would take over the world or destroy it, and himself along with it. All the while, proudly wearing T-Shirts that featured the icons of his 'heroes': Supervillains.
(This character also gave birth to 2 supervillains in my actual superhero efforts: Dr. Daemon, who was basically an older Milo who had decided to take over the world. He was inserted in my ThrillSeekers project as their first antagonist. His own enemy, who would show up later, was called OverKill; another older parallel world Milo who had decided to annihilate everything and everyone on Earth, including himself.)
This version was different from original SFR, even though I kept the name throughout the first 16 of the 17 strips made. I went back and pasted a Malicious Intent logo over the still-used SFR one, though I seem to have misplaced all the edited ones, and still have the original strips with the old SFR name.

Milo would abuse Scorch, clone Zed and even face off against the Grim Reaper himself.
The project initially ran for only 17 strips.
Here are numbers 15, 16 and 17Collapse )
The young lady with the pointy ears was named Gemini Roman. She was one of Milo's only "friends", and, knowing who and what he is, names herself his conscience. She is determined to try and stop Milo from reaching full-on villain status by trying to be his friend, and show him that life isn't really the suck-hole of treachery and despair that he believes it is.

Scorch himself also had a pretty interesting backstory. It was a secret through most of the strip, with what would have been a big reveal, but that never came aboiut, so, what the hell? No one's really paying attention anyway, so I will spill the beans.
Scorch is actually a demon.Collapse )

After this strip ended, I took the Milo Mannheim idea and transferred it to another character, whom I called

Prettymuch the same character, but, with a sense of off-kilter whimsy and zest for life in his mad science and wanton destruction. He's still pretty abusive to Scorch, though.

The original strips of Misfits of Mischief when I was planning to go in a different direction with them.
I.E., having Bjorn, Quinn and Monroe stranded on one singular earth trying to do 'good deeds' for people (in their own roundabout way) to atone for some godly misdeed.
I didn't really think it through too far, i just went with the flow. That seems to suit me best... to a point.
Note that, before I settled on giving them each a "theme color", I would have them each wearing different shirts, of a similar theme, (but not identical) in the same color. This time, the shirts are the symbols of Superman villains... in Grey!
The young ladies who run the unnamed entertainment store, are Babs and Sophie.
Sophie wound up being a part of my ongoing 'PowerTrip' comic, which I may start posting here, if I can find all the places on line that I have it posted.
Babs never really found a home, as her character went through some changes. She does, however, show up in another version of Misfits of Mischief, later.

Anywho, that said, a few of the pictures in this artdump are history. (Only temporary, I hope.)
Not that anyone's paying attention.

On the bright side, thanks to my years of identity crises, and infatuation with quickie website builders like Angelfire and PhotoBucket, and artdump communities like Side 7, DA, FA and such, I will still have plenty of content to post here.
Some of it will just be really OLD sometimes.

Since everyone here in the Pacific Northwest seems to obsessed with zombies;

I notice, in these movies, no one ever really seems to pay much mind to the fact that celebs will become zombies in the Zombie Apocalypse™, just like everyone else. (Except, of course, for ZombieLand, which was an excellent flick. Bill Murray is always a joy... except when he's being a bitch about Ghostbusters 3.)
I find this odd, considering how obsessed society is with every other aspect of celeb existence.

From a few X-Messes ago...

Quinn, Monroe and Bjorn find that X-Mas isn't always the same in every parallel reality they jump to.
Sometimes, Santa brings "gifts" to all the naughty ADULT boys & girls.

Happy 'Days of Relevance' to everyone!

Quinn, Monroe and Bjorn, of my 'Misfits of Mischief' comic, meet the Santa of the parallel reality they're stuck in.
Apparently, This Santa handles the presents for all the grown-ups who have been good (or, y'know, NAUGHTY).

These are the kinda things the guys sleep in when they sleep at all. Or, when they aren't sleeping naked.
Says a lot about their personalities, I think.
Monroe "wears the pants in the family", so, full PJ bottoms for him.
Quinn has the boxers, as he's sensible, but can cut loose from time to time.

Angellica is an android lass that I was brainstorming as a background character for a comic project earlier in the year. (2011, mind you.)

I never did too much with her. She will more than likely be a backgrounder in yet another strip I am developing right now.

That initial scribble was about as in-depth as I got with her details.

Just last month, I'd thought of drawing her again.
As I had been on a small "chibi" kick then, I decided to give that design a shot.
I admit, I went a bit overboard with the tits.
I also admit that I had put her in this position to justify the tits, as, leaning forward in a low-cut shirt often tends to lend... volume to the visual appearance of breasts.
"Why, no, disgruntled fans.. her tits aren't HUGE, she's just bending over. You see more OF them, so you just THINK their utterly immense!"
Yes, I'm a dork.
I also admit that it is the position that I drew her in that inspired the setting, as, she looks like she's staring over a cliff.
One mention of a certain hungry, self-proclaimed "Super Genius" coyote, and voila!

Monk the Martian is a mascot for a project that I never really got off the ground. Nothing special, just random space-themed cutesyness. I have been trying to get a webcomic off the ground, now, for more years than I am comfortable admitting in a public forum. The trials and tribulations of everyday life seem to prevent me from wrapping my head around any one concept for too long. "Slice of Life", oddly enough is the one I have the biggest problem with. But, I try. Here's a couple of attempts that I have made in the last few years: Various comics projects that started strong, but never really went anywhere. Evil Empire (the 4th one) is the one I am currently involved in, despite the fact that I don't actually want to DO a space comic. Does that make sense? Of course not. Anyway, I continue on, attempting to exorcise my demons in scribble form. I have had more LJs and DeviantArt accounts dedicated to this over the years than I can count. This one is but the latest, but hopefully that last, as I will be deleting all the others as I run across them. (It'll give me something to do, I guess.) I hope anyone who stumbles across this account enjoys what I have put down.
